  Calcium Channel Blockers
Amlodipine   Dog 2.5 mg/dog or 0.1-0.2 mg/kg SID (PO)   Hypotension  
Cat 0.625 mg/cat SID (PO) to max of 1.25 mg /cat SID (PO)  
Diltiazem   Dog 1-2 mg/kg TID (PO)   Negative inotrope, negative chronotrope, hypotension  
Cat 1-2 mg/kg TID (PO)  
Nifedipine   Dog unknown   unknown  
Cat unknown  
Verapamil   Dog 1-5 mg/kg TID (PO);
0.25 mg/kg (IV) over 2 min, max. of 5 mg total  
Negative inotropic, negative chronotropic, hypotension
- If toxic, rescue with Ca gluconate(1 ml of 10% solution/10 kg (IV)) and atropine (0.02 mg/kg (IV))
- In general this is a poor choice in small animal medicine in the light of diltiazem
