Signalment: 1.5 years old, Female, Newfoundland
Presenting Complaint: This dog presented to OVC for cardiac evaluation and at that time she was asymptomatic for cardiac disease.
Presenting History

On physical examination at OVC, she was bright and alert. Mucous membrane colour and capillary refill were within normal limits. Auscultation revealed a grade 5/6 right mid-chest systolic murmur, as well as a grade 5/6 left base systolic murmur. Heart rhythm was regular, lung sounds were normal and femoral pulses were reduced.

Owners obtained dog from breeder at 7 months of age. She had no previous problems and her activity at home was that of a normal dog.

A murmur was initially ausculted by her referring veterinarian during a pre-spay examination. Echocardiography was then performed approximately one year ago.
