Signalment: 8.5 years old, Male Castrated, Maremmano-Abruzzese
Presenting Complaint: Presented to Emergency Service at OVC 24 hours after an episode of collapse during grooming.
Presenting History

On presentation he was bright, alert and responsive. His mucous membranes were pale pink and capillary refill time was normal. Auscultation revealed muffled heart sounds, a grade 3/6 systolic left apex heart murmur and a grade 4/6 systolic right mid-thorax heart murmur, the presence of a gallop and occasionally irregular rhythm. Lung sounds were normal, pulses were weak and blood pressure was within normal limits.

He had a history of exercise intolerance during the previous 2 weeks and one episode of coughing during the same period. Owner also reported that he had been drinking more water and urinating more. After the collapse, thoracic radiographs were taken, he was started on medication and he was sent to OVC for a cardiac assessment.
